Ok...(just had to re-write this as I forgot to enter a subject and hit submit, which on going back completely wipes out your message body).

I am trying to upgrade my 1.2.5 Gallery on a FreeBSD 4.1.1 machine with PHP 4.0.1pl2 (not sure about the Apache version but definately NOT 2.x).

The first error I get is on the initial config page is:

Warning: Wrong datatype in call to extract() in init.php on line 11

But I plod on and on attempting to do the final SAVE I get:

Warning: Unable to create 'init.php/config.php': Not a directory in write.inc on line 10
Unable to write to init.php/config.php

HELP!

Thanks,

This is a PHP bug. You really should upgrade .. PHP 4.0.1pl2 is two years old! They've had 7+ releases of PHP since then.

See my reply here: http://gallery.menalto.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpBB_14&file=index&action=viewtopic&topic=889&3207

Bharat,
That was indeed the issue. I just edited the text though as I am not up for the headaches that will ensue when I upgrade PHP versions. My site is just WAY too stable right now to do that. Besides what version would I upgrade to? If I upgraded to 4.2.3 my site would probably just crash entirely. Any suggestions?

What will be the minimum requirement for G2?

I have had no issues with 4.2.2.

G2 will require at least 4.0.6, and probably something more recent than that.

4.2.3 works fine here, too. Just be careful after 4.1.0, the global variables have changed, and after 4.2.0, i think, register_globals is defaulted to off
