My admin password stopped working. I have changed the user password information in the db to the 12345 hashed password and it still does not work. I copied a known good hashed password from another Gallery install to this install.... no good.. I tried the forgotten password link and that does not send an email and the email shown in the db is correct.
Anyone got an idea?

Thanks, Anne

PROBLEM SOLVED - Not really a fix,, I reloaded my backup to the server. Would have been nice to know what made the admin password stop working.

Try the "file creation" method instead of the "database" method for password recovery, as outlined in the FAQ.

First, glad you got it back up and running. (Backups are always good!)

If your password wasn't working, my guess is that either you were mistyping it, that you (or someone else with access) changed the pw and forgot about it, or you (or at least your db) was hacked in some way. Very unlikely that it would just stop working without reason; that just doesn't really happen.

For the password recovery email, I've read a few people comment on that. Unfortunately, I'm not up to the task of correcting that. Maybe someone else will be able to look into the issue and offer a solution?

First is to test it. If it does not work then I would suspect that all mail() functions donèt work. G3 just uses the php standard mail() function to send mail. There is LOTS of tests scripts via google to test that. If that does not work then your host is the best resource to troubleshoot a serveréphp configuration issue.
