This ebayer has taken screenshots for this website and his linking to peoples sites such as mine and it looks like he's passing the work off as his own....He's frauduantly selling himself as the CREATOR of other peroples work.

See here.

I'm going to report him to ebay.

Row,

Nasty. Can I make a suggestion? You could test the referrers at the beginning of albums.php, and if it's ebay, link to a page that explains the situation, and describes the seller in language you find appropriate.

You could have fun that way :-)

No, you misunderstand. The people visiting your site our innocent ebay browsers, so you need a public service announcement like

"<SELLER NAME> is a crook and a lying bastard. He had nothing to do with the design of my page, and only wants your email address to send you child pornography and then blackmail you."

something like that

:-)

Hey Roo, is this the same guy?
http://www.detroitmusic.com/index.php/users/view/malinusmaximus

A google search for "malinusmaximus" didn't turn up too many hits, so I'd be pretty confident... I wonder what we can do with his address, phone number, email address, etc :-)

No I don't think that is him...anyway...I had sent a nasty e-mail to which he returned a nasty e-mail.

He has changed the wording on that page a bit trying to not look so guilty and he has removed one link to my site...however there is a second link still there..under the wrong catergory even.

This mess is complicated more by the fact that I wrote a negatove feedback on his page and it ended up being posted on the page of someone else with whom I had just a few days prior made my very first ever ebay transaction with. This poor guy has been as they say A+ and my mess has now caused him greif.

Anyone.....the guy I bought ftom was kind enough to give me a link to how to contact ebay, so I have just finished explaining the whole mess to them in hopes that they will remove to accidental negative comments.

ebay has serious usability issue I can tell you that.

Why isn't the moron linking to his *own* work if he's a 'web designer'????

Oh...that's right...posers don't have any work of thier own.

Okay, I've fixed his wagon. He refuses to remove the second link and is a complete asshole in his e-mails.

So I've added a redirect from that url via .htacess, so that anyone clicking the link he has left will now See this.

You are bidding on a professionally designed web site to host your family photos, portfolios ,hobbies ,etc.
This is a fantastic easy to use web site with unbelievable results! We will custom design your site to meet your needs!View a few of the example sites listed below to see the incredible results obtained by other individuals utilizing the gallery script on their personal or business web sites(the example sites below are examples of individual web sites utilizing the gallery script and may or maynot be associated with monumental productions).

Impressive, trying to sell a Gallery installation on ebay.

Yeah only he added this pary just yesterday:

'......btained by other individuals utilizing the gallery script on their personal or business web sites(the example sites below are examples of individual web sites utilizing the gallery script and may or maynot be associated with monumental productions).'

I love this line:
'may or maynot be associated with monumental productions'

Here's a copy of the e-mail I sent asking him to remove the second link to my site and his reply.

Mine:
I suggest you remove the second link you have to my site....the one under 'Hobbies Racing'.....

BTW...I have a screen shot of the page and the code that was there before you changed the wording.

Tina Hayes

His Reply:

Tina ,
I suggest you kiss my ass, hows that sound!
I am not breaking any laws or implying that i designed your web site.
It is perfectly legal to post links on a web site to other web sites.
Please go back to high shool and learn to read before you open your big mouth.
Congradulations! you have a screenshot and code before i changed the wording.
I changed the wording because i realised that nimwits like yourself believed that i was insinuating that i was claiming to have built their
web site when it clearly stated that these were example of user web sites using the gallery script installed.

And the link is still there.

Hey Tina

The nerve of some people! What a first class A**! I'd love to see a big brick just drop from the sky and land you know where!

On the up side - so far he's received absolutely NO bids. Maybe people are smarter than we think  and can smell an obvious scam here. I do wonder why he's not linking to his own work if he's such a design god ... was he really going to do this customization for people or just take their money and run? ....

I'm just sorry you have to go through this with all else that is going on in your life. But it seems to be the way of the internet (and the world in general) to try to live off the ideas and hard work of other people.

Take care, and I hope this problem disappears when the bidding time is up.

Gaile

Shame he is unable to utilise the ENGLISH language, I am sure when I went to School you spelt Congradulations! "Congratulations".
Seems to me he will probably have no choice but to go away.

Also there is at least one hosting company that is low cost and they will install the Gallery script for you at no charge.

My hosting is the same at a cheaper rate?

Does this guy actually have his own web site?

Too bad that one cannot leave a comment or review on his account...

Hi, I had the same thing happen to me on Ebay, I caught some monkey posting my sites claiming to have designed them.

I checked out the link you posted to see if it was the same guy, but not, and was amuzed by the following:

ART AND PHOTOGRAPHY
ego maniac had to remove linkexample user site 2,example site3

...yeah, thats gonna sell...

anyway, i took the same steps as you emailing both the offending party and ebay...it helped i know a few lawyers and had two letters notorized and sent to ebay. They were kind enough to email me back, within the day of recieving the letters, to tell me the offending party had been banned and the 3 bids were being contacted with reguards to legal action if they completed the transaction.

also, I highly suggest everyone do what I do. When designing a site, graphics, brochure, or anything else on my computer...before I post it, sell it, etc I burn a copy on cd and mail it to myself (living in France at the moment it gets expensive to mail a few cds to the states and back). On return of the mail (DON"T OPEN IT) I stick in a file cabinet or safe or whatever other box like thing i happen to stroing stuff in at the time. BUT, should anyone copy your works, you have secured a copyright (by using the us postal system) and have solid evidence (the cd-r) of your copyright.

you can also read here for more info www.whatiscopyright.org/

hope that helps in the future

He linked to my site also. I just added a blurb to the top of my page. Anyone who is dumb enough to buy website design on ebay can't be helped by any redirect I do. I just warn them and am thankful for the traffic.
Any publicity is good publicity.
