Highlight Image in Gallery

If I'm missing something obvious here, please forgive me. I did look through the boards and did a fair bit of tweaking (although I've only had Gallery installed for a couple days).

What I'm working on is a gallery for pictures of my kids for the interest of family and friends around the world (literally). I have several albums, all with a number of inset albums. An example might be:

Child One ->

Birth to Three Months

Four to Six Months

Seven to Nine Months

... and so on.

The thing is, on the main Gallery page, the highlight image for the album (Child One) isn't the picture I'd like to have there. In fact, I'd like to change them regularly as the children grow.

I can't find a way to do this. I'm not adverse to hacking around in the PHP a little bit (if you tell me which file to open and what, specifically, to look for), but if there's a simple way to change the image, I'd love to hear it. I suspect it's something really obvious and I'm just missing it (in which case, I'll start blushing and saying, "D'oh!" now).

Thanks for any help you can provide. I hope I was clear as to what I'm trying to do.

All you do is log on as admin, and then go into the album you want to change the highlighted image for and find the image you want highlighted. Underneath that image there is a dropdown box....look for "highlight photo" and click it. that will now be your new main highlight image for that album.
ok now you can say D'oh

No, I got that far.

I mean on the main page, where all the sub-galleries or albums or whatever they're called (I think they're directories, but what do I know? ) are initially listed.

It works exactly the same for the top level albums (that's what they're called...). When you get into the album, you'll see a number of subalbums (and maybe photos as well). You can select highlight photo in the drop down box of any of these.

Keep in mind that when you have an album with no photos, but only subalbums, you can only use the highlight photos that you already used for these albums. So basically you're highlighting a photo twice.

Hope this is clear enough.

Okay, I get about highlighting the photo twice. How do I change which highlighted photo is on the main Gallery page, then? The picture that's there now is a newborn picture for a child who's almost three years old now, and I'd rather have a later picture there...

OHHH! D'oh! Highlight Album does the trick. I dunno why I didn't see that. *sigh* It's always so confusing learning a new content/image management system.

I kept thinking I had to highlight photo for some dumb reason. D'oh! Just having a blonde day, even though I'm a redhead.

Thanks very much for your patience. I'm blushing now, in case you wondered.

Hi Bonni

I answered your email this morning - did I only add to the confusion? If I did...sorry!

Hey, Gaile! No, actually, I figured it out some time before I read your mail. I dunno why I didn't get "highlight album". I mean, it really is pretty obvious. Just one of those brain fart moments, I guess.
