organizing the same photos into multiple, alternate albums

So my girlfriend and I just returned from a long trip with a ton of photos. I've uploaded them all to the instance of Gallery running on my server, and we've started to organize them.

We have very different ideas of how we'd like to organize our photos and display them. I'm wondering if there's a good way for us to each create albums that point to the same source photos, rather than copy all the photos and fill up the hard disk with duplicates. It seems like it ought to be possible for multiple albums to reference the same photos...

Does anyone know of a way to do this with Gallery?

Not in G1. Hopefully G2 will have this feature.

Can you cheat by creating a symbolic link to a driectory and trick it into indexing the directory (album) again? That way you wouldn't be using all that disk space by just pushing it up twice...

I would like the feature to..

Uploading it twice and then hard linking should work....

But gallery will could the clicks on both images seperate.
