Locale issues - date and time wrong?

Hi All

I am using the default of UK English and whether, if I accept the default date and time settings they show as USA and the time is PST ~ my host server is in Los Angeles. Or if I use the PHP code to make the date read correctly the time it still uses is the "locale" of the server.

So, why does it not use GMT as the datum when using UK English as the default and only language? :-?

Also, I have looked at some of the other languages and selected the "drop down". This dropdown is positioned top right on the Albums page but bottom right on the Thumbs and Image pages.

I hope someone can help resolve the above "problem" with locale info being for where the viewer is not the server. 8)

TIA :)

Bump

A similar thread refering to locale indicates this issue is possibly all to do with the host server.

I would welcome some clarification on this.

I have already requested "support" from the host service but to understand what they may tell me can someone more familiar with Gallery Language packs and how they function give me a qualified view.

Many thanks in advance :)

Hi All

I have heard from my host support that en_GB as defined by locale -a is installed on the server there must be others because the few language packs I have looked at the foreign text shows fine.

But the date & time is the problem. Whatever language chosen it shows Pacific Standard time.

What version of Gallery are you using and is the time correct for your location?

TIA :)

Having checked out some other folks Galleries and "looked" at where their servers are located.

It appears to me that whatever language you set the date/time is always the servers NOT the date/time applicable to the persons location viewing the Gallery making the comments.

So, looks like Gallery languages all AOK but corresponding Date/time is "wrong". If that is the case, so be it, but it was my understanding that Date/Time was browser (user) specific & therefore should show GMT or IST or EST etc for wherever you are located by language.

:-?

Message for Jens

You checked my Gallery out a few weeks ago.

Did you come to any conclusion as why I get the behaviour noted about the locale date & time not being "local" to my geographic position?

TIA :)
