I was installing a brand new gallery and trashed the old one, but now on the same system were my previous gallery(1.4.1) had no problems with this , my configuration of 1.4.2 gives a serious warning:
Serious Warning!
We were unable to detect any system locales. Multi-language functions will be disabled.
I read the suggustion what to do about it:
The Easy Way
Install debconf (i.e. run apt-get update then apt-get install debconf, as root)
Run dpkg-reconfigure locales as root
but I really don't know how to do this , this is to complicated, is there not another thing one can do to get rid of this warning.
it can't be all of a sudden the system is not allright, there's not much info on this problem.
thanks for any help

Alex

Hi,

do you want to use multilanguage features from Gallery ?
Like displaying menus in other languages ?
Or display date in a format according to the language.

If not and you want your Gallery in english only, you can safely ignore the warning.

Jens

Hi,

Yes please, I like to use the multilanguage featrure like I did with my previous installed gallery(1.4.1pl2) , the strange thing is that now on the same system the new gallery has this error, what could have been changed then on system level? but what to do within the possibilities, I can't change things with the webserver, it wouldn't be logic anyway. it's the same webserver which was working for my previous installed gallery.

kind regards Alex.

Hi,

okay. So we have to dig a little.

You said you ran 1.4.1pl2 without any warnings ?
And the languages worked just fine ?

Yes it worked fine, first I only wanted to upgrade but I couldn't upgrade the albums and since I wanted to change the content anyway I thought to do a clean install, So I trashed the old gallery and the albums directory and made a fresh 1.4.2. I never expected to find a configuration error were things first worked fine.
My previous gallery was one that had all the languages installed by default, later you guys changed this back. so now I also installed only my own language pack which is Dutch. It's been seen by the configuration wizzard it only is not apllied because of this error.
thanks for the help ( btw I did 2 donations already in the past and I'm not afraid to do another)

Hi,

i am a german and do not understand your english full.
Also my english is bad...

But it seems you are implying that a donation to the project will speed up help or assistance to you ?
Or do you want to imply that a donation is like a kind of (pre)payment ?

In my humble opinion a donation is made by someone who likes Gallery and would like to give "Thank you".

If you want to use coppermine galleries, do it. I am perfectly fine with that.
Its just a empty threat for me.

Regards,

Jens

sorry no way I want to offend, I was just feeling left alone when no response was made anymore. My donation this time is maybe the solution I found myself and putting this on the forum, surely will be enjoying my gallery more now it works again. I just got lucky with this new beta version working again otherwise I was still stuck.

have a nice day
