I have quite a few images to post online and have run into a need for a feature where I can place the same picture in several albums and would prefer to have the albums share the same instance of the file instead of having duplicate files on the file system.
Does Gallery support this feature or is there a way around this?
For large albums, I also sometimes have the need to create a "highlights" version of the album for those who are interested in seeing some of the pics but not all in a particular category. Wondering if this could be a future feature or is there an existing method of doing this?
Thanks

There is a "copy photo" command in the dropdown that appears under each photo, but that physically adds another copy of the photo to the album you also want the image to appear in.
I don't think there is a way around it that anyone has come up with - but G2 will allow albums to share the same image (I believe). That's a ways away however as G2 is still under development.
As for your "highlights", there isn't a current way of doing that (there is the random photo hack that shows one pic at a time, and another hack that shows most recently uploaded, most voted etc). If you are thinking you'd like it as a feature for G2 you might want to mention that in the G2 thread.

Thanks Gaile.
For the "highlights" feature, I think one way of achieving the same result is to simply place the "non highlights" photos in a sub album. So by default, the user would browse the highlights and if they wanted to see the rest of them (i.e. the draft shots), they can select the sub album. Only limitation is that you don't control the ordering since I'm assuming the main album is first, and then the sub albums.
