"Today in History" Random Image Block: Help needed

Dear All,

I am looking for a random image block that displays a random image from around X days in the past, e.g. to display how something looked like 1, 2 or 5 years ago.

The pictures need to be timestamped somehow (file system date, file name, EXIF data), and X and a +/- range of days must be given for such a block.

Perhaps a modified "random image block" would do?

Any ideas and hints are welcome (I have read the forum for hours now but did not find a solution).
