Hi,

I would love a powerful search feature that would allow users to search each field independently. For example, it would be great if users could request "all photos taken by James at John's wedding" or "all photos of Arnold from 1999".

The days of a purely hierarchical structure for photo galleries must be limited?

Thank you so much for making such a great piece of software - it's truly awe inspiring that you guys put in so much effort for free.

Thanks,
Jack

Hi, me again...

I've just done the obvious thing and searched this forum for "search". Those posts tell me that the search functions of G2 will be wonderful but those of G1 probably won't change. Is this still the case? And is there a new advanced search plugin for G1.4.3?

Perhaps it would still be worth discussing the merits of hierarchical galleries versus database-driven galleries? My view is that databases are the way to go for large galleries. For example, I run a web photo gallery for my old school friends - we all upload pictures from our past. I currently duplicate my photos into two galleries: "categories by photographer" and "categorised by subject". This duplication system is pretty ugly and wouldn't be needed if there was a cool advanced search facility.

Finally... :) Will Gallery 2 read MPEG7 metadata?

Many thanks,
Jack

PS
Thanks again for putting all this work in - it's very cool!
