Troubles with accents in email messages

Hi people looking for the Portuguese (PT) translation!

You may have a look at http://gallery.jastmi.com/ where everything is translated (including config). However I need help for a problem I'm not able to overcome yet: in email messages sent by Gallery the accents, cedillas and tildes show up after the respective letter (eg.: a~ instead of ã). Not even using the HTML conversion solves the problem.

Can anyone help, please?
