Hey all, Interesting Gallery problem here. Default installation of SUSE Linux. Paths are good. Moved albums and gallery directory from old server that also had default installation of the same version of SUSE Linux with the same paths. Ok, so far so good. Set everything ug+rw and chmod/chgrp for the web server user and group. .htaccess file is present in gallery directory. I even extracted from the original tarball again and reset permissions over my existing gallery directory. Ends up some of my albums work and some don't. During installation I get the warning that my web server isn't obeying .htaccess and that mod_rewrite isn't working. I add the <Directory> line in my httpd.conf, still same errors. I do some searches here, and go over to apache.org to learn more. They say to put junk in your .htaccess file and if you get an error loading the page, then your http server IS obeying the .htaccess file. So I do that and I get the error telling me it is working. However, Gallery still things .htaccess is not working. I think I need mod_rewrite to work for it to access the rest of my albums. I get the "Gallery has detected the following albums: (lists like 30 albums) that are not valid. Please delete them." Well, these are all my pictures here! Only a few albums are working, and some are kinda working (highlights work, but no pictures in the album, no highlight anymore but pictures in the album, no highlight and no pictures, etc). Any suggestions on this .htaccess thing would be appreciated. I cruised the FAQ with no other luck. I'm running my own server here so I can change anything we need. Check out the link to the gallery to see for yourself what is happening. Thanks much! -m ---- |

If you get the "not valid" message, it means that your albums were NOT transferred correctly. That's what your problem is..

Hmm, I guess I don't understand why some would have made it ok and some not. I burned a CD of all of the directories at once.
Does it explain anywhere what files are needed, permissions, etc, to help me to fix these albums? It's literally hundreds of pictures that I really can't get back very easily....
Thanks for any additional info!
