Hide right hand modules not working (mambo)

Hello

I have installed mambo by following the instructions.
It is working well. I have mambo 4.5 1.0.9 and gallery 1.4.3-pl2.

The only problem i so far is as follows:

When i go to mambo administrator --> components --> gallery
and select hide right hand modules it says success config file updated or somthing like that.

However when i look at gallery via my site it is not hiding the right hand modules?? can anyone help me out with this? I dont mind if i have to go into some files and do it manually, as i only need to set this option to yes once. I just need some help regarding the files i need to alter.
