I'm having trouble creating the .htaccess file because it isn't a valid file name. How do I create this file? is it meant to have the . at the start?
----
Operating system: Win98
Ah. just seen the "no support for win98". Ok no problem I will get someone to create the file and send it to me.

You can create the file in Notepad, AFAIK. Just make sure you have 'All Files' selected when you save it, and not '*.txt'

Quick quirky way to do it in XP:
1. Start->run->cmd.exe
2. cd /path/to/your/gallery/
3. notepad .htaccess
4. save
That works

thanks for the help guys. But now I have another issue. I ahd everything set up and ready to go. I logged in a few times as Admin and uploaded an album. Then I discovered I had made an error in the config. I went back to fix it and it came up "Sorry you must log in as an admin". So I tried to and it kept telling me "Incorrect password" even though I'm certain I was using the right one. Anyway, I can't get to the config wizard without entering my password, but I can't reset my password without getting into the config wizard. How do I get past this paradox?

"Send me my password" won't work either. Apparently "Admin" is not a valid user name. Neither is Administrator. I don't know what is going on here.

Add a blank file named resetadmin (no extension) to the setup/ directory and then rerun the configuration wizard.
