Hi,
I want to install jhead. It's the only thing missing from my configuration. I have uploaded the jhead directory into my Gallery directory. However, the configuration wizard requires a file system path to the jhead file rather than the directory.
The jhead directory contains a number of files (listed below). My question is, which of these files is the jhead file which I should point to?
changes.txt
jhead.c
jpgfile.c
makefile
makefile-win32
readme.txt
exif.c
jhead.h
make.bat
makefile-unix
myglob.c
usage.html
Thanks for any help.

Hello, Phil,
I noticed from another message of yours that your web host uses Unix/FreeBSD 4.1.1.
You need to compile jhead on your host.
If you have shell access, you can do this by typing 'make' at the unix prompt.

John

John,
Yes, thank you for your help. The jhead file appeared after I compiled the jhead directory with "make." The configuration is fine now.

hi,
just a tip: make sure you upload these files in ASCII !
If you upload them in binary format, you can do
whatever you want, but nothing will be compiled
when you type 'make'.
Trust me *sigh*,

I want to know the answer to this same question. I don't have shell access at all so is it possible for me to install jhead?

Add me to the list! I did see two others that asked the same question this week, but they haven't been answered yet!
I also am trying to install jhead, but I don't have shell access. I have spent hours searching and cannot find detailed installation instructions for jhead anywhere!
Since it comes up as a warning on the configuration page for Gallery, Why isn't it covered in the FAQ just like Netpbm?
I'm running on linux & php/4.3.1
I can 't load anything to my usr/bin.
I loaded it to home/myname/public_html/jhead (in my root directory) in ASCII mode.... Now What???? HELP! I'm stuck.
Thank you!

You can get pre-built executables of jhead here: <!-- BBCode Start --><A HREF="http://www.sentex.net/~mwandel/jhead/" TARGET="_blank">http://www.sentex.net/~mwandel/jhead/</A><!-- BBCode End -->
