Gallery on windows and file zie

I've noticed that my gallery installation chokes on adding large files (I've moved down to 640x480, which seems to work fine). Does anyone know from expirence what is the max image size Gallery running under windows will be happy with? Does this at all depend on the amount of RAM?

Usually this is a setting in your WWW server. Gallery tries to override the setting under Apache. IIS is another beast. It doesn't allow overrides via the .htaccess files like Apache does. You would need to change it via the server management snapin.

P.S. - I am using Windows as a development platform, and I don't have any problems with uploading files. I use the FoxServ package of Apache/PHP/MySQL

I guess I should take a look at various size/time limiting variables in Apache and PHP. The thing is, though, if I go the way of transfering files to the server and importing them into Gallery by specifying the local path, even then Gallery will choke on large files. It will start importing, process one or two and then hang.

Folks have been reporting issues with NetPBM on windows being unreliable. That's probably what you're hitting. I'm not sure what's causing it, but I've heard that the later versions of NetPBM (like 10.6) are more reliable on this front.
