... yes ... I'm sure a preatty stupid one ...

I wanted to get my Gallery erased and then reinstall it from scratch ....

I tried to delete all directories ... but of course those in which there were .htaccess files did not want me to erase them

I uploaded the fake, empty htaccess file and I got the main folder "gallery" erased ...

... now I have to get the other one erased ... the one in which all pictures should be contained ...

How can I get this done ?

In there I have a setup gallery with some users .dat .bak ........

Please help me out if there's a way .......... thanks !

If you have SSH (Telnet) access, use 'RM -Rf albumsdir'.

If you only have FTP access, you need to find an FTP client that will let you delete directories, even if they are not empty. I use WS-FTP Pro.

Unfortunately I use CuteFTP Pro ....

I can delete directories even if they are not empty ...

the point is that it appears the webserver, even if I have got CHMOD for that directory 755, doesn't let me modify it ....

The directory is called .users .... I can also rename it but no chance to delete it .....

Does anyone have got any guess ?

Thanks a lot,

powergen

UPDATE : I just verified that differently from any other directory for which the owner is called "643"............ this directory has owner "99".

Since I have reinstalled Gallery in other folders I have verified that the same situation is present in the ALBUMS directory now with version 1.3.1 ......

Any help in deleting this directory ?

Well, you can try running the cleanup script that is in the contributed
code section. Then using your ftp client to delete the folders.

<!-- BBCode Start --><A HREF="http://gallery.menalto.com/modules.php?op=modload&amp;name=GalleryDocs&amp;file=index&amp;req=viewarticle&amp;artid=22&amp;artid=22&amp;gpage=docs.php" TARGET="_blank">Cleanup Script</A><!-- BBCode End -->

I have used a command line ftp to remove .htaccess files. It's a bit cumbersome but it works. I'm running Win 98SE and my site is on an Apache server running Mandrake. It goes something like this:

Click Start>Run and enter command
That pops a DOS window. Enter ftp and your domain address. It should ask for username and password. That done, at teh > prompt CD to the diretory the .htaccess is in. At the > prompt enter ls -a and that will list all the files. Then enter rename .htaccess dothtaccess. After the rename, you can try del dothtaccess. Anyway, after you rename it, you should be able to see it with your FTP client.

I tried to came back but the site was apparently down ...

... I retried today ... and here I'm just to say thanks.

The contributed script worked perfectly ... even if the "owner" column in CuteFTP still indicated 99, I successfully managed to delete the Albums Folders just after running the "cleanup.php" script.

Thanks, thanks, thanks to all of you.

I upgraded to v.1.3.1.

Looking foward to the new one, though.
