Hi everybody,

writing from France.
My webhoster does not allow me to create a '.htaccess' file on the server due to some obscure "Frankly Mr. Frenchy" laws related to php regulations.

Anyhow as I'm quite new in this domain (I'm using WS FTP) I would like to know if you know any other systems to avoid this problem and let me configure Gallery (which I would really like to use for my images)

Thanks coming from the southern sun of France

Hi Stephane.

You can use Gallery w/o the .htaccess file, but you will not be able to do the following:
-Use mod_rewrite for short URLs
-Increase the max. upload size
-Turn off magic quotes, if they are on

Simply delete the .htaccess file inside your setup directory, run the Configuration Wizard, then delete the .htaccess file in your gallery directory when the setup is complete.
