Hello,
I am a volunteer building a web site that includes Gallery for a Japanese group that is supporting the homeless children in Cambodia. I am planning to circulate a request on the website for someone to translate Gallery to Cambodian... I just looked at the Create a New Translation page and it does not at all seem like an easy task for a novice. I don’t understand a lot of the terminology on the page.
Before I put my request for a translator on the web page I would like to know how difficult it is to do and if someone would be willing to help me with it. (that is walk myself and the translator through the steps if need be)
My guess is that it is probably not so difficult, it is just that the instructions are not written in plain English... For example I don’t know what Shell Access or KBabel are as in:
If all translations are done
* With Shell Access run make_mo_files.sh
sh make_mo_files.sh -po <language>_<COUNTRY>
this works only on *nix System with bash
* Without Shellaccess:
o use KBabel and create a.....
It is all geek to me...
I guess my last question with Gallery Version 2 around the corner is, will translations be easier with Version 2?
Thanks in advance!

Tim_J will have to answer your translation questions.
Just an advice: If you do not understand a (technical) term, search for the explanation in www.google.com.
