Paour/Gallery Dev's-
I have a test box I can set up with Server 2k on it. I am willing to give you whatever access you want if you would like to get into this issue. Replicating this error on W2k is very easy, the SP seems to resolve it on 2k3, but that does not help 2k users.
Cheers

Gregradz, if you can give me remote desktop access to your server2k box and put the latest G2 CVS install on it, I would be happy to look into it. I haven't used IIS in a while, but hopefully this is something we can work around in PHP.

Ok, give me a few more days to get it all set up and ready for you to play with.

Ok, just in case we all are not confused enough...
I finally got the w2k server up. I installed gallery this morning from the latest CVS (January 27th).
For some reason, the imagemagik module did not want to work. I had IM working fine on this machine with G1, so I assumed it would work. Ah, mess with it later.
I created an album and went to the image upload applet (ignoring the comment about no thumbnails since IM doesn't work).
Guess what...they uploaded with no error.
Thus...
1-The latest CVS this problem is really, truely fixed (not due to windows update, I have not even turned this machine on for 1 year)
2-The imagemagik is/was causing the problem with the upload applet (am redoing IM next to test this)
3-I opened up the permissions wide on this machine trying to test out another configuration in a cluster deal...not related to G2 and something I did caused a big hole that fixed this issue...

Quentin, can you disable IM and see if your upload applet works? Then, also, make sure to update to the latest CVS.
I am no longer able to replicate the issue, I am happy to give you or bharat or anyone access to the s2k box to play with it and see the settings, but am not too sure it is of much concern anymore. I did not finish setting up VNC yet, will set it up if someone wants in there. I wish I knew what I did...
Cheers

I have been running the latest CVS, updating every morning for the past few days.
Anyway I continue getting:

"Error: Server contacted, but Gallery not found at this URL ( http://www.7ghz.net/gallery2/gallery_remote2.php )"

i can view my ....remote/module.inc just fine in firefox just fine.

i'm really not sure what to do, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try using http://www.7ghz.net/gallery2/main.php as your G2 url. Does that work?

Are you using Windows Server? Which one? Did you install the SP RC for 2k3? Have you updated 2k?
In Apache, I think there is a fix with the htaccess file...but I don't run apache, so I dunno.

I'm running apache and there really is no gallery_remote2.php file in my main gallery2 directory.

Where is it?

there isn't one.. you see that message when GR mistakenly thinks it is connecting to G1.

What sort of htaccess fix?

Gallery Remote still doesnt' recognize that I have a gallery2 install and fails out every time.

Any Help?

I am short on time, otherwise I would assist more. When I was having the issue, I did muliple searches of the forums. This is far from a new issue and it is not a gallery problem on Windows or Apache, it is an issue on the machine Gallery is installed on.
I suggest you search using the keywords of your error message and you will find quite a few comments on this issue and a handful of solutions for Apache. This is the only thread that has the windows solution.

You know, this might be strange, but what is GR doing, that is non standard.. can it work *differently* so that this problem doesn't occur perhaps. I have to say I've not been able to do anything with Gallery beacuse of this problem. Heck, why not give a switch in GR that tells it its a G2 site, so don't "test".

I dunno, I'm just babbling tonight. But we can't blame everything on hardware, because that doesn't solve the problem.

Cheers,
Quentin

Quentin -- I totally agree. Instead of (or at least in addition to) doing a halfassed detection scheme we should let you just tell it whether you have G1 or G2 installed.

Problem is that we have no dev resources on GR right now so there won't be any progress in the short term. If anybody wants to step up and work on it -- let us know.
