I have a new gallery (great program btw) and I turned on the Photoaccess printing. I have now found out that photoaccess was sold to photoworks.com. Now this isnt really that big of a problem until they decide to stop using the photoaccess site information. The problem comes into play that Photoworks is now charging $.19 per 4x6 and if I use the print on photoaccess it is charging $.29 per 4x6. I was trying to test and see if it really was going to charge that much, and it appears as though it is. I really enjoyed having this feature since most of my family is not local and could print my photos easily whenever they needed/wanted.

Gallery URL: gallery.stevenlord.com
Gallery version: 2.0 Alpha (G2)

I dont understand where the configuation wizard is that would give me the rest of this information, I will post this if I can find it. I will also do more searching here to find out how the heck I get it.

Thanks
Steven

[Moving to the G2 Support forum]

I'll ask Bharat to have a look at this.

I'll give the photoaccess guys a call and make sure that this gets taken care of. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, Steven!

I just talked to the photoaccess guys (took a while to get through with all the holidays). They're going to rev the prices so that they match up with what's on the website.

maybe a stupid question but how do yourself make money with using photoaccess? Isn't there a way that the printlab and yourself can make some money when customers ordering prints from your website?

Isn't that the idea behind offering print service on a website?

No, I think I read somewhere that the original idea for gallery was to share pictures with family and friends not to customers. There is a paypal module that I saw in the forums that let's you use paypal instead of photoaccess. I personally like this way better because this way I wouldn't have to upload full size images. I have a 8MP camera so the full size files are big and I don't want to pay the webhost for a bigger package. This way I get notified when a order happens and I can either make arrangements for any printer to fill the order or upload the full size prints to photoaccess myself and having the prints directly shipped to the client.

We offer a print service so that people can have prints made. These print companies are not the most flexible entities in the universe -- we have to play by their rules. Most of them don't want to set up individual affiliate accounts for each and every user (the overhead is not trivial for them) so they are happier to set up one affiliate account for Gallery and put it all under one umbrella.

However, if you contact them directly you may be able to get an affiliate account and then you can tweak the code to use your account instead of ours. At some point in the future we'll add code to the UI to let you specify your affiliate id via the web interface instead of tweaking the code...

This appears to still be a problem. At least with 1.5rc3. When using the link from Gallery, the PhotoWorks price is 29 cents. When using their site and uploading manually, the price is 19 cents. The tech person I talked to didn't seem to have any idea what Gallery was and how it should be handled.

Have you checked it in G2? I can't imagine that they some how fixed the pricing for G2 and not G1. :)

I have not tried G2 yet. Is PhotoWorks pricing correct when using G2?

Oy! They switched to a new system and have reverted the price again. I'll contact them and have them take care of it. Thanks, devolution!
