I just installed gallery 2, did not believe how easy it was.... and it worked first time, an achievement for me!!!

But then realised I had installed it into and old gallery1 directory called gallery2... duh!!

So thought a complete fresh re-install but how do you actually delete the g2data directory as I cannot delete it or any files inside...?

I did try this once before and had to resort to getting my hosting company to delete the files for me...

- as root, you should be able to delete it
- browse to http://yourdomain.com/gallery2/lib/tools/test/ and click "ResetGallery"
- i'm not sure, but there should exist a cleanup / delete script, somewhere...

Hi Valiant, the reset cured it.
Managed to get G2 running again in a different directory but still unable to delete that directory g2data directory and any files inside it.

My web host said.."I would guess that the folder or files within it were created by the script used to install this so their ownership is set to that of the script rather than your FTP user."

Thanks... though still cannot delete...

I ran the cleanup script which finished with the last line saying...
Warning: chmod(): Operation not permitted in /home/mywebsite/public_html/gallery2/cleanup.php on line 48

Not knowing to much about scripts and the like I'm stuck!

I deleted some files but have two directories remaining which I can't delete. (cache and locks)

if the cleanup script couldn't delete something then try to delete via your shell or ftp account.. if you still can't delete then you may need help from your webhost.
