UNABLE to download as JPEG please advise
----
Currenty I upload my files as large Tiffs and Gallery converts them to JPEG and allows me to view them in several different sizes. When I rt click-->download image, it downloads as a Tiff when I need the JPEG. Can someone PLEASE tell what I am doing wrong or a way to do this. Thanks richard

Click on the image, then click the "full size" link, then there'll be a "Download this Photo" link that you can use to get the original.

Yes I am able to do that. However the original versions being uploaded are generally large TIFF files and I would like for my users to be able to download in JPEG format as well. The system is converting the files to JPEG. I know this as all the non original sizes are visible in my browser but the original is not which makes sense as it is a true TIFF. I need to offer users the ablilty to download the images as jpegs. Sure this works if the original is a JPEG but unfortunately for me mine are not. Currently I right click an image and click save picture as... The file that downloads is a much smaller file then the original but it is still a .tiff file. PLEASE ADVISE.

You're saying that you want us to convert the full-size TIFF into a full-size JPG and make that available for download? We don't do that now, but I suppose that we could. Please file a feature request at http://sf.net/projects/gallery -- thanks.

I do not need to be able to download a full size jpeg, I just need to be able to download the smaller resized versions as jpegs while keeping the option to download the original as a tiff. Currenty I open an album and get thumbnails. I click a thumbnail and get a 720x718 view of the image. I also get a drop down box that allows me to view the image as 2700x2093 and 3000x2990 (full size). If I choose 2700x2093 I of course get a larger version of the image. Clicking 3000x2990 I get no image (as this is a tiff and cant display) but a link that allows me to download the original image. This downloads in tiff format which I like. What I want to do is to be able to download the two smaller versions (720x718) and the (2700x2093) as jpegs. In order for my browser to render them gallery had to convert them to jpegs or perhags giffs when it did the resizing, I just want a way to download them in their converted format preferably jpegs. Thanks so much for reading all these request. Richard

I think the issue is that the resized image is actually a JPG, yet because the original is a TIFF it is returning the filename as xxx.tiff instead of xxx.jpg for all derivatives, this is in the headers - but the resized image IS actually a JPG.
To fix, you would have to create logic that returned the proper file extension for each derivative, not just what the original file was. There would be new logic in DownloadItem. This would make it so that when the derivatives are displayed in the Gallery, you can right click and save - and they will be the correct filetype (jpg).
In my opinion this is a bug, please file it on www.sf.net/projects/gallery - also include a link back to this thread.
Thanks
