Tried to see if this problem has been reported or not, but it doesn't appear to be.

My site is here: http://www.mystavash.net/gallery/

It uses the Nice Commits version of Gallery 2, and a slightly (very slightly!) modified version of the veloria theme.

This is my album structure:

2004
>Album 2004.1
>Album 2004.2

2005

>Album 2005.1
>>>Album 2005.1.1
>Album 2005.2

When I am selecting the highlight for Album 2005.1.1 (a sub album), it asks me if I want to make it the highlight of the parent album. I have no option but to say yes.

There should be 3 options here.

1. yes, make it the highlight of this album and the parent album.
2. no, just make it the highlight of this album.
3. no, I made a mistake, I don't want to change anything. (cancel)

hm, is the wording unclear? it doesn't say "of this album and the parent album".. it only says "its parent".. the parent of this item being the album. it will only become the highlight for the grandparent album if it doesn't already have a highlight.
also, "i have no option".. what about the "back to album" or "back to photo" link in the "navigation" section of the sidebar, or the back button on your browser?

You may be right about the grandfather album thing, I was just ... surprised when a private album highlight became the highlight of a public album. ^.^;;

I believe it would be more intuitive to have at least a cancel button next to the 'yes' button. If you want the user to go around and use the other forms of back navigation, then it would be helpful to direct them to do so.

Also, this is a different question, but also related to album highlight.

Say that for a particular album, the set album highlight is a photo that the user does not have permission to view. You don't want people without permissions to see it as a highlight, but you want to set it as a highlight... If this is not possible, perhaps a warning that people with permissions will be able to see the highlight you set, even if they don't have permissions to see the picture?

Too long winded? ^.^::

That gets pretty complicated. We don't want to have more than one highlight for an album, and it's possible that any given item is not viewable by *somebody*. We opted for the easiest course -- let the album owner decide whether or not they want the highlight to be visible by choosing the one that they want...
