I don't have CVS access at my webhost, but I can certainly use it via a local installation on my Mac OS X machine. So my question is, would this be a good procedure to follow? Or is it easier to just use the nightly builds and try to upgrade?
1. Install on local machine via CVS.
2. Upload to web server.
3. Update via CVS on local machine.
4. Upload changed files to web server.
Thanks.

nightly builds sounds easier than that.. extract on top of your gallery2 dir and go..

OK great. So if I replace my gallery2 directory every night, it won't overwrite any files that I might need? (Provided of course that my images are stored outside this folder.)

every night? lol, every week or month or ... so would do the job.
keep a copy of the config.php file too and place it into the up-to-date gallery2 directory.
