.htaccess problem

Hi, I am new to Gallery. I have uploaded all the gallery files to my webspace (which is hosted by my university). When I tried to run the configuration wizard by going to "(Webroot)/gallery/setup/index.php", my browser returned with a 500 Internal Server error. I emailed the server admins and they said "Options Override" caused by .htaccess is not allowed on their servers due to security concerns. Then I read of the Gallery FAQ "http://gallery.menalto.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=GalleryDocs&file=index&page=gallery1-install.faq.c.php#gallery1-install.faq.c.1" and found that I should be able to get it running just by deleting the .htaccess file from the "setup" directory. Unfortunately, when I tried accessing the /setup/index.php page again, all I got was a "Cannot find server - The page cannot be displayed" error. Does anyone have any idea what seems to be the problem? Any help would be much appreciated! |
