With G1 there was a way to edit the crop of an image. This worked out good for thumbnails espcially when trying to retain a certain look. I am quite fond of the square thumbnails. I do like that I now have the option built in to use them.

The only issue I have is that since it seems to target the center of an image sometimes it will cut things strangely. For example if there isn't much in the center then it will display basically white space. If it is a picture or character drawing then it cuts off their heads and they can only see the mid section.

Is there a way to change or modify the square thumbnail?

Ah so simple. I know why I couldn't find it. I had opted to upload a thumbnail when creating the sub-album. There isn't a edit photo for the sub-album picture, at least one that I can find. I instead uploaded the image to the Gallery, then edited the thumbnail and then highlighted that image.

Since we have the ability to upload a album image, which represents the album and doesn't go into the album itself. There should also be an edit photo option for it.

hm, i think we assume you'll edit the custom image before you upload it.. but you can file a feature request if you like.. (you're asking to have "crop thumbnail" appear when you do "edit album" IF that album has a custom thumbnail instead of a normal highlight photo, right?)

Yes one could assume they would have the custom album image edited before upload, however because of the cropping they might not know the exact method or way the image gets cropped. Thus making them having a need to edit it. Since there is an option to upload the thumbnail, there should be a way to edit it otherwise why really have it.

A person could just upload it to the album, edit it and highlight it. Not a huge priority now that I know how to edit it. In the meantime as a quick fix/explanation maybe a little text blurb there explaining if they want to edit it, it has to be uploaded first, edited and then highlighted. But to answer the question, Yes.

Going with this thought -

Is there a way to have your thumbs created as square in the first place for version 1.5?
