I hope that I am doing this correct. I am new to this. Anyway my question and or problem is I have installed Gallery 2 and when I upload pictures to a directory and then go to Gallery I can not get the pictures to appear. I am able to see the pictures but in a list and when I click on them they open but big enough that you need to scroll. How can I make them in a Gallery page. Thanks for any help.

The version of Gallery is the latest one that I got offof the site. G2 beta 1.

This is the url but you will see nothing. But

http://rtassociates9.com/gallery2/main.php

If you use this one you see the list:

http://rtassociates9.com/gallery2/albums/

Thanks

I'm confused. Did you copy all of your stuff into a new directory called "albums" inside your gallery2 directory? That won't work.

If you want to add an image, you must go to http://rtassociates9.com/gallery2/main.php log in (you provided the admin password during the install process, but it's in gallery2/config.php if you forgot). Click the "Add items" link, browse to a file on your local computer and then upload it.

I don't think that G2 currently supports .PSD files so try uploading a JPG or GIF instead.

Thanks alot. That was how you do it. Now of course I have a questioin again. Do you have to add one picture at a time? and only the amount on that page? Then do it again. Also is there a manual that I can read to help me or is it just play around and try? I would like to get the look of the frames to appear now. I thought that I did it but it does not sho up.
I have to say this is a very cool program and not to kiss up but.. hey maybe it is. I am going to send some money in paypal to help you folks out. Of course I am sure that I will still need some help.. (heheh)

Again thanks for your fast helllp and more to come I am sure. :D :)

whether G2 supports .psd depends on your imagemagick installation.
i just tried adding a .psd t my G2, i received "document contains no data" in firefox. strange. G2 says it supports pdf and psd (imagemagick). it creates successfully thumbs for .pdfs.

adding more than 1 item at a time:
perfectly possible with G2. go to Add Items
choose from local server or upload applet and you can add whole directories and directory trees.

please define "frames" and "window on window thingy".. i'm not sure what you're asking. if you want image frames (fancy borders around thumbnails and photos) then you can go to Site Admin / Layouts and Themes / (matrix or classic or hybrid) tab to set the default image frames for those layouts (image frame module must be active). You can also do edit album / Layout tab to pick image frames for a particular album.

Edit: I see imageframes on your site.. did you figure it out?

Thanks for the info but as I tell my kids give it a try first and then again. I was able to figure it out. Now. I tried to start another page. I uploaded a bunch of files in the applet way. Named it different but first got an error in uploading the files but when I went to the page at the bottom was a picture of one of the files that I had just uploaded. But it was not in a different page. But if you click on that picture (its a bird) you then see the ones that I uploaded. Sorry if this is not to easy to follow but I am not sure what the correct words are to use. Hope yu can help me here.
Thanks

you put the photos in a subalbum. you'll notice it has "Album:" in front of the name and "Size: 12 items" below. You can pick which photo you see for the album thumbnail by going into the album and choosing the "make highlight" item action on one of the photos.

So what you are saying is that you can have other groups of pictures but they will always be in the same group. Meaning that you have to scroll to that group to get into it? Should I delete the pictures and stat again? And if so how would I get the items be have there own page?

albums are like folders or directories on your computer.. you can move photos from place to place.

I am sorry about this but I was out of touch for a while. Health problems but ok now and my problem is that it seems so much has changed. I also got a new computer. I have a Mac Book Pro intel. Now when I installed the version 1.51 and try to get into it I get two messages.

1-Error: Server contacted, but Gallery not found at this URL (http://www.rtassociates9.com/gallery-remote2.php)

2-Error: HTTP Post Failed (HTTP 404 not found.)

I am getting the first one all the time not. no matter what I change the url to by making it short or long I get the first message.
I know I am doing somthing wrong but I just am not able to figure it out. I also tried to install another version but when I go to get on I get messages that magemagick is not installed and I downloaded that and do not see how to do that.

Sorry for all the babbel.

Hope you can help.

Bob
