Mod_Rewrite Woes?

I turned on Mod_Rewrite to check it out... and now I've got issues.

First of all I'm still not sure what the advantages of using Mod_Rewrite are over just using the short url preference under general.

But I switched that off and switched Mod_Rewrite on... then I was having troubles with things not showing up right. (Going to the main page, sometimes you had to add the v prefix to get thumbs to show up.)

So I decided to switch back to the normal way. I turned off mod_rewrite and turned on short url in the preferences.

Still when I click the albums things are showing up with the v prefix. Even after I tried deleting the .htaccess file. Things seem to be working for now... but I don't know what is going on.

Some explanation:
Seems like you're running G2 beta 1 and not any newer cvs/nightly snapshot version. Why? Because the "Short url" switch in Site Admin->General is gone now. G2 beta 1 was right in a period of change from our old short url system to a new, faster, more powerful system based on mod_rewrite.

You may want to upgrade your G2 to the latest nightly snapshot, perhaps this issue has already been resolved.

I'll give that a shot. Thanks!
