The following information is required to get an answer:
Get this information from the PHP diagnostic (in the configuration wizard).
Gallery URL (optional but very useful): www.mbzone.net/gallery
Gallery version: 1.4.4
Apache version: Apache 2.0

Ok guys...after long long time I fixed with my ISP the problems for the configuration of the gallery and it works but....I have a BIG problem, when I try to log in I insert usr and pw but the system told me "Error: Invalid username or password".
The usr in "admin" and isn't incorrect, I use this usr to log in in the configuration mode and I have no problem to do that, I have this problema ONLY when I try to log in to add the albums, pics...
Already checked the FAQ and everithings seems good.
Can I reset the user and create a brand new admin user????
Please help me....from Jaunary to today I'm not able to use this gallery....
THANKS in advance

Do you have to reset the password to be able to logon to the config wizard? No error messages?

Hi, sorry but I forgot about this. I'm unable to logon with the details you provided in a PM. Did you change the admin password?

Hi, no problem, sent a PM to you!

Wow, thats strange. As you say, the config stuff works, your sessions work fine, but when you try to logon to the gallery itself, you get an "invalid username/password" message.
Not sure what to tell you, but I would try to delete the whole Gallery install, then install Gallery v1.5 and see if that helps.

So do you suggest me to install a new gallery? Ok, I need to see the documentation...
Yeah, your current one is empty, isn't it?
Yeah it is! Ok I'll try, thanks!

Good luck! Just remember to delete and recreate your albums dir.
I should delete the album dir and overwrite the gallery folder, is that right?
..may I know the permission on the gallery folder? Now is set up to 775 but doesn't run anythings....maybe I have to change to 765?? Are there others non standard permission?
Thanks

guys,
I'm having the same problem. Any more ideas?
I installed the new gallery version last week and i'm only able to login once!
I can get into the setup fine and after i go through setup and reset the password i can get back into the gallery page to edit ... once!
I really don't get what's happening and I've gone through so much work on this that i would hate to have to re-install it...
thanks,
ryder

Same problem here, after upgrading to 1.5
But perhaps some other useful information.
It appears that the issue is with the re-drawing of the main page (after login including the protected albums). If when you get the login error attempt to go directly to a protected album url you will see you are actualy in.
Note however that when you do a refresh even affter clearing cache you dont get in.
Anyway I hope this helps trying to figure out what is hapening.
BTW, Benmas dit uou solve it with a clean install?

i agree with bartcelona.
i have a brand new install of 1.5 and the problem is reproduceable:
login in to gallery, the page just gives another login prompt. in the address bar, retype your gallery site address and you will be in the gallery, logged in as that user.
this happens when you pass the username/password as arguements to login.php as well.

Doublecheck all of the things listed here, especially the URL-matching:
FAQ Gallery:c.9

hey guys,
were you able to fix your troubles? Did you try the stuff in the FAQ? it's looking pretty complex and i'm not sure if my server uses apache or windows but i'll start hacking my way through if need be... urgh, the last gallery version i installed was too easy!!
Yeah, i'm experiencing the same problem with it not actually logging in on the main gallery page but being able to click through to the album and then i can edit.
This is what happens on a mac but, apparently on a pc it isn't working at all. i'm waiting to hear back about specific browser and operating system...
Again, any help/ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
ryder

ryder22, provide the url and I can probably figure it out. Most likely you forgot the www. prefix in your albums url in the config wizard.

Permissions on /albums/ dir, make sure you include the /albums/.users/ dir (which is hidden by the .). "chmod -R 777 albums/"

Done but I have the same error on page ...

You can't use relative paths. You have to use a full physical path.
../ is not acceptable. /home/me/gallery/... is

Well, if you gave it the same path to your albums directory, that's what it upgrades...

FAQ Gallery:c.9
Posts: 20
i believe this problem was mentioned in another post but there was no resolution.
i just did some modifications to albums.php and the CSS files to follow the look of my website and now i can log in but not really... i will explain what i mean...
when i click login, the popup comes up, i enter my username and password and it passes, there is no error saying "incorrect login"... however when the popup disappears my gallery use to change it's display so i could edit everything. it no longer does this. it simply looks just as it did before i logged in, with the "login" text in the upper right. can anyone help? thanks so much... i cannot figure this one out.
i'm thinking it must be with permissions but i have albums.php to 777 and the directories to 777. please help me!

coreybyrnes, did you read any of the posts in this thread? That sounds like classic FAQ Gallery:c.9
Posts: 20
thanks for replying... yes i read the entire thread... and i investigated FAQ C.9 but with no luck... it's strange... when i go into the configuration and then come back to the gallery it looks like i'm logged in because i have all the editing prompts but when i click on them a popup comes up and says "you do not have access to this"... i cannot figure this out and it's going to cause a problem very soon... i don't see how slightly altering albums.php (i added some borders to the album trees) and editing the CSS files can screw up permissions... HELP!

Ok guys, I installed the new release and I fixed the login problem but now...another problem.
When I try to access to the gallery, after the config wizard I have this error
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /web/htdocs/www.mbzone.net/home/gallery/classes/gallery/UserDB.php on line 337
I'd like to know:
- Where can I find this row? I mean I already checked the file UserDB.php but I think there's a call in a external file...I'm not a developer...
- Also, can be a permission problem? All my Gallery dir is CHMID 755
Please HELP ME!!!!!!
Thanks

benmas, looks like an incomplete upgrade?

Do you think? I didn't made an upgrade (no albums in the old one), I re-installed the Gallery!

benmas, oh, thats strange. Permissions on the albums dir?
755
Posts: 13451
It needs to be owned by the user that apache runs as, or chmod 777
Posts: 33
Ok thanks, I'll try!
I contacted my ISP, they wont change the permission from 755 to 777 because they told that the PHP scripts runs only with chmod 755.....so I can't use that gallery........no words...

Can they chown it to the user that apache runs under?
