I have Apache 2.0.x installed now and running. I've attempted to install PHP 4.2.2 according to the bundled instructions (which refer to Apache 1.3.x), adding these three lines to httpd.conf:

LoadModule php4_module c:/php/sapi/php4apache.dll
AddModule mod_php4.c
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php

...and of course, editing as appropriate. However, Apache then refuses to restart. Only when commenting out the first two lines does it launch without error.

Any ideas, anyone? If this goes, then migrating my ALMOST-working-except-uploads gallery from IIS should be as easy as draggin'n'droppin' a folder from one corner of the drive to another.

Apache 2.0 and Apache 1.3 use different directives (as you've noticed).

For running Gallery on a W32 platform (Win2000 Pro) I use FoxServ v2.1 (Apache 1.3.x) and everything seems to work just fine. You can download FoxServ v2.1 from http://www.foxserv.net They have a version 3.0 that packages Apache 2.0 but I was unable to get Gallery to work with it properly.

Not interested in yet ANOTHER server... if I get this going I'll probably replace the Domino webserver on my primary Warp Server box with Apache as well, so there's at least some level of congruiity between the two...

You realize that there's no support for Gallery or PHP on Apache2, right?
See the <!-- BBCode Start --><A HREF="http://gallery.menalto.com/modules.php?op=modload&amp;name=phpWiki&amp;file=index&amp;pagename=Gallery%20Requirements" TARGET="_blank">requirements</A><!-- BBCode End --> page.

I give up. I'm getting rid of all this silly internet stuff, digging my old C-64, and putting my BlueBoard back up.

FoxServ is not really 'another server', it's just a pre-packaged, pre-configured install of Apache w/PHP, MySQL, PERL, and Python. You could do the same thing by downloading all the parts one at a time and installing them. FoxServ just makes is simpler to do for the Windows types (myself included).

Installed on my W2K Pro workstation.

All works fine.

Installed Gallery.

ALL WORKS FINE.

Aren't computers a bitch sometimes? :smile:

When you get your hosting service in gear, talk to us about getting it on our <!-- BBCode Start --><A HREF="http://gallery.sourceforge.net/wiki.php?page=Web%20Hosting%20Referral%20Page" TARGET="_blank">Web Hosting Referral Page</A><!-- BBCode End -->. We're going to start plugging that heavily
and this website gets a lot of traffic from webmasters (as you might have noticed).
