like to check if anyone having the same problem.
only when i login as admin, the version will appear as "Powered by Gallery v1.5" at the bottom of the page. Else, it'll just show "Powered by Gallery v1"
the ".5" is missing...why?

To prevent massive (google) indexing of version numbers. If, at some point, it's discovered that Gallery 1.x has a security issue, we do not want people/bots to be able to search for "Powered By Gallery 1.x" and have a list of prime targets presented.
It's by design, not a bug.
