To my knowledge there has never been any damage to a G1 in using the migration tool since it was created... import away!

Well, I tried it - put in the path and this is what I get:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /beta/gallery2/main.php on this server.
Don't know why - I've got the permissions wide open on everything. Everything associated with gallery2 on my end is wide open. Any ideas as to why I can't import?
Thanks

You should be entering the FULL path to your G1 albums directory, like in my case its "/var/www/fryfrog.com/htdocs/albums" and in YOUR case, I doubt that "/beta/gallery2/main.php" is the path to your G1 albums dir.

I put in /var/www/html/gallery/albums in the spot on the"Gallery 1 import" page where you are supposed to put the path. If you are familiar with G2 then I am sure you know where this is on the Site Admin stuff. I get the error, "the path that you entered is not valid" directly under the path box.
So I tried another /home/virtual/site124/fst/var/www/html/gallery/albums and I got the
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /beta/gallery2/main.php on this server.
on a new html page when I clicked the "select" button.
So - first of all - I have full permissions to everything on my Gallery 2 and Gallery 1 installs.
Second, I don't understand why on the second error it is looking in the beta/gallery2/main.php (the front page of my gallery2) for anything, and why it is telling me I don't have access, because I do. I have checked with my host on this. I have NEVER entered this path in the box, that would be dumb - I know where the gallery 1 albums are - so why is it going there?
I have tried every combination of path I can come up with to point it to my albums, but it always tells me it is invalid. So there is something keeping Gallery2 from seeing my Gallery 1 albums. The permissions are wide open.
The is the only bug keeping me from using this gallery now. Everything else works great - I realize that I could load my images one by one, but I really don't have time for that. Other people have gotten this to work - so what am I doing wrong?

every page goes through main.php.. when you click Select it is posting the G1 path you entered to main.php. Can you save settings in various other Site Admin pages? This step of migrate module isn't really any different.. any additional information in your webserver error log?

It might help us to help you troubleshoot if you supply the url to your gallery1 and gallery2 installations. Also, if you would like to set up an admin account for me and email me a username and password I would be glad to troubleshoot your migration problems.
In the meantime, just to be clear, when you click "select" you get a server error, not a gallery error, right?

Here is the error log - it's all gibberish to me. Refrence my above post for my actions here. If you can glean some information from this I'll be impressed - I have no idea what clues this might give....
But I will say that this error log only refrences one path I entered. This error was given me on a seperate html page when I clicked select. The other path, the /var/www/html/gallery/albums path, gives me an error directly under the imput box - I am assuming that that is a "gallery" error - as opposed to the "server" error I get with the path you see below.

OK - it's done now - but I didn't do it, my host did.
He spent the last 8 hours or so trying to figure it out, and he found the right path. But, he also had to disable the security on his entire server before it would work - so he did it for me, quickly, and then re-activated his security.
Larry from Allenhost is the GREATEST!!!
God help me when I have to upgrade...... :-?
Thanks to everyone who has offered help - these forums are great because of you guys. Thanks for being so patient!
