Hello,

I have been using gallery for a little while (a rather happy user), but I just noticed a little inconvenience: since there has been some changes in the default permissions to an album, on can setup "loggedin" as the value to the permission for a new album. In case the picture shown is the "full size" picture, and you only set "canRead" to "everybody" and leave the default "canViewFullImages" to "loggedin", only "loggedin" people can view the Full size images which also happen to be the resized version. This leads to some galleries not to be easily viewable anymore.

If I could suggest that in future versions of 1.x a check is made so that if the picutre to be displayed on a first click is the full size version and 'canRead' is set to 'everybody' then it does display the pictures ?

In the meanwhile, I am going to have to modify all those setting by hands on my entire gallery (over 300 albums) for which I will need to check those settings, but in order to facilitate my work, I created a quick Perl script to dump the info per album, which I am sharing here in hope it would help some people with the same problem.

PS: Great work with Gallery otherwise, love it ;)

This is a known feature/bug in 1.5. It was intended to fix a security flaw in that people who wanted to hide the full size version of an image probably want to hide it even if its NOT big enough to trigger a resized image to be created. But some people don't want it to behave that way!

So its damned if you do, damned if you don't. I think the developers discussed it in IRC and decided the easiest way to deal with it was to create an option check box that reads something like "treat unresized images as full image for permissions" or something along those lines.

"Will be" to create, not "was".

It's a 1.5.1 change.

Ok ;)
Well I guess I will wait until 1.5.1 before trying to upgrade my folders.

Anyhow, once again, thanks for the great job.

__Some__ of the blame can go to me if you wish.
