As per topic I have just installed (upgraded as well as fresh) 3/5 and 4/5 nightly builds. I get the same error each time when I try to enable the square thumbnail module.
Any ideas?

deactivate all toolkits (imagemagick, netpbm, gd) and then reactivate any/all you want to use.
