Can users create there own accounts?

I'd like to be able to allow user to subscribe to the gallery and Setup an account for themselves.. is that an option ? has anyone suggested it as a feature? |

Search around the Customization Forum. I'm aware of a couple of people having made this exact modification. So your answer's in there somewhere!
