Can Gallery do this?

I wasn't sure where to post this, and after looking around i couldn't come to a conclusion.

I'm currently in the process of migrating my site to php-nuke. My page is basically a collection of pictures, updated daily, of parties and other happenings.

ok, in the top corner I have the pic of the day. There I post a new pic daily, which links to 5 other daily pics. These change every day. You can also move backwards to previous days.

then, in the pics section (menu link to pics), i have galleries of different events. in each of these, i have 20 pics per page, most spanning a couple of pages. i don't use thumbnails.

now, from what i see, gallery uses thumbnails and then has a slideshow-esque way of flipping through the pics. how skinable is it? can i make it look like the rest of my site (which will look very different after i take it to phpnuke)? can albums be sorted with text links by date?

basically, even if it works differently, do you guys think it can do the same job as what i currently have? thanks in advance to anyone who takes a look at it.
