Make G2 look like G1

I apologize if this has already been discussed, but I was unable to find it. Anyway, the new themes in G2 are all well and good, but what is the best way to make G2 look more or less like G1? I would like the 1 column view for albums and a 3 column view for the pics. Also, there was a hack available for G1 that allowed albums that contained ONLY albums and no pics to be treated like the original gallery page (ie the 1 column view) It seems silly to have to hack at gallery2 to get it to behave like gallery1... Is there a simple way to do this? I assumed the "classic" theme was what I am looking for, but this doesn't appear to be the case. I would appreciate any help! Thanks!! |

Why is classic layout not what you're looking for? This is approximately like the G1 top level album, and you can assign that layout to any G2 album so you don't need any hack to use it in other albums.

Basically what I'm asking is, how can I get the top level album to display in 1 column with the subalbums listed along the right (like it is now) get the second level to behave the same way (if there are no pics and only albums -- this is not really that important though) then when you click a subalbum, it shows the "classic" 3 by 3 grid of pictures with the info under it.

Site Admin / Layouts & Themes / Classic -- set the defaults you want here.. make sure subalbum tree is turned on.
Assign root album and any album-of-subalbums to use classic layout (edit album / Album tab). Any other albums will use default layout, matrix.
