Mambo en Gallery: Some questions

Hi all,

After trying several photogalleries I decided to go with Gallery. Seems solid and stable and I love all the features! Thanks to everyone who helped developing Gallery!

I've succesfully set up Gallery 2 beta 3 stand-alone and Mambo 4.5.2. I've read so much (different) stories about integrating Gallery and Mambo that I can't figure out which is right anymore. Therefore I'd like to ask some questions which have been asked earlier. I hope you can help me:

1 - The method where you choose 'install from directory' (described here) is only for Gallery 1.x and doesn't work for 2.x?

2 - Is there any difference in the components here and on Mamboforge? If so, which should I use?

3 - I can find an overall layout in 'embedBody.tpl' and 'embedHead.tpl', but I can't find where I can make other changes. E.g. my stand-alone shows several albums in-line (horizontal), while my Mambo Gallery shows only one album per line (they are aligned vertical). Even though my Mambo template has enough space to place 2 or 3 albums next to each other.

4 - When I enable mod_g2_sidebar the integration fails. When I visit Mambo with the sidebar enabled, Gallery is opened stand-alone. I've tried the mod from both pages I mentioned above. Does anyone know what can be causing this?

I hope you can help me.

Cheers,

Maarten

1 - yes, those instructions are just for Gallery 1.x.
2 - don't know. but michiel_1981' version is the newest and probably the best one.
3 - you can customize all tpl files in G2 (always create a local/*.tpl). i guess you'd like to customize the css files (theme, layout). and the nr. of thumbs / row can be changed in "edit album".
4 - no idea. are you using the mod_gallery_image.zip module from michiel_1981?

Thank you for your quick reply.

But that's 'just' a module for showing (for example) a random image, right? The component and the module 'sidebar' are something else if I got it right.

I can do this for the standalone, but I can't find which templates are used for the embedded one, since this seems to be another template than the one used in stand-alone. (For instance, I miss the functions like 'new album', 'edit items' etc. in embedded mode).

I am, but the problem isn't about that mod, it's about mod_g2_sidebar. I expect that that mod should show me the bar with albummanagement functions?

I hope anyone can help me further.

Cheers,

Maarten

2 - thought michiel updated the component too, but i'm not sure.

3 - for embedded g2, the same templates are used. the only difference is embedBody / embedHead instead of global.tpl.

When I run it embedded I don't have a itemmenu and my albums are not shown inline.

This differs from the stand-alone layout.

The itemmenu is called from the layout/albumBody.tpl, so this one does seem different in both modes.

Do you know why?

you can activate/deactivate it in the mambo g2 component, afaik.

Thanks for your patience. I think it's called the sidebar: I mean the menu where you can add/remove albums, items etc.

I use 'Sirius' for a layout: This one shows this menu at the bottom of a page (in stand-alone mode), but not in embedded mode. That's why I thought stand-alone and embedded use different templates.

My other problem is that I can't enable it in mambo: When I do that, Gallery is no longer embedded but is opened stand-alone, as soon as I try to open Mambo.
