Hi Just made this mambo site 4.5.1a live - www.statesa.com. I want to give people the opportunity to register and add photos of South Australia. Having never used a comnponent like this.. Can I limit number of photos per user I think that Gallery can work with my existing users login details ? Thanks for you advice on this. Cheers Chris |

There are no quotas in G1. G2 does currently contain quotas, but I think its based on file size rather than number of files.
Screening photos is also not something that is part of G1 *or* G2 that I know of. It might be possible to have photos uploaded to one album and simply call it "unsorted" or "unsafe" then force the admin to move them to the proper location... but this would be a lot of work.
It would probably be something that could be done as a G2 module, but it hasn't been written yet... might want to check to see if anyone has made an RFE and if not, write a good one up yourself.
So it looks like gallery 1 or 2 doesn't really work as a drop in, no modifications tool for your situation.

Hi
Thanks for the clear answer on this.
The number of photos nort critical - file size would be fine but I would need some kind of authorisation of photos before going live since this is a family site. Even it was just when they upload you designate that user can't make them visible but admin can.
I shall think on it
Thanks

If that is all you need, then perhaps you could use G2 and set the "default" permissions of an album's items to be unviewable. Then, once an admin has found them to be "viewable" then you can simply mark them as such.

You could make accounts for your family members, don't allow user-self registration and tell your family members what to upload and whatnot. Then, if someone wants to use your gallery, they would need to ask you to make their account. You can create an album for them only that isn't visible for anyone else but you and the album owner. Then you can validate the pictures and move them to another album.
