linking within gallery

hi, I just had an idea. is it possible to link images within gallery 1 or 2? I mean like use the same photo in 2 albums, but only upload it one time. For example, I would like to add albums based on date, to list images that I shot on a certain day. I would then make another album, categories, which uses the same pictures but then categorized in to people, architecture, boats, cars (and sub categories). If this is already a feature in gallery 1 or 2 then forgive me. But can someone tell me how to achieve that in this case?
