Hi. There's no sure-fire prescription for getting your images indexed by Google.
Follow these steps, and you'll be doing the right things:

1) You must be running mod_rewrite. Google usually won't index pages with the query-style long URLs.

2) Your caption (not the keywords, which don't display on the page) must contain the words.

3) If your image titles are descriptive, that helps too. (Such as monkeys_in_borneo.jpg vs. aab.jpg). (You can set to preserve image names in the Configuration Wizard).

4) Remember how Google works. The more sites you have that link to your site, the more chance Google will pay attention to your site.

5) Google also searches the image's alt tag. If you would like, I can tell you how to have your image generate an alt tag with the keywords entered into it. Currently, no alt tag is generated.

Then have patience. Google only updates its listing on average once a month. If your web site doesn't show up on Google, your images certainly won't be showing up.

Anyhow, #4 is by far the most important factor, followed by #1.

Good luck,
-Beckett (

Something else to consider is installing your own search engine such as ht://dig
and have it index your Gallery installation, or whatever you like. It's much
more powerful then the built-in search function, but you'll need to make sure
you have decent titles, descriptions and captions for it to work well.

Can you give me a URL to a site that is indexed this way?
Thanks!

PHP.net (the PHP website) is indexed by ht://dig

Here's an example search for 'fruit' http://www.php.net/search.php?show=wholesite&pattern=fruit
