Did you ever get this problem fixed, because I now am experiencing the same problem. Any ideas from anyone? The server error log for 500 errors shows:
[Mon Jan 15 08:42:38 2007] [error] [client ] File does not exist: /home2/hammer45/public_html//time.php
[Mon Jan 15 08:42:38 2007] [error] [client ] File does not exist: /home2/hammer45/public_html/gallery/gallery_remote2.php
However it is my understanding that G2 doesn't utilize gallery_remote2.php for the Remote module.
Any help would be great.

>>>>>>HERE IS THE SOLUTION<<<<<<<<
After countless hours, days and yes months of trying to fix this issue, I came across something so obvious that I can't believe I overlooked. I owe it to myself and to everyone out there that is facing this problem. No need to keep trying to research this issue. Hope this can save a lot of you valuable time! Enjoy...
3. Parent directory -> "Your gallery folder" -> modules -> scroll down and you'll see the "remote" and "uploadapplet" folders.
4. Replace these files with the updates you downloaded.
5. Log back into your Gallery -> Site Admin -> Plugins -> and the icons won't be locked anymore and you'll have the option to upgrade them!
6. Remote Gallery will now work!
ENJOY!

Hi,
I was having the same problem (although, to be honest, a colleague of mine, I didn't have this problem). Now I was extremely happy to see that you found a solution for this so I immediately implemented it but now my problems are even bigger.
When having changed the folders, the first time I tried to access the uploadapplet I got an error screen. Of course I didn't read it and tried again to open it. Since then the option for the uploadapplet has disappeared from my optiosn to upload images.
Even worse... the modules maintenance option doesn't work at all anymore - I just get a blank screen.
Now what I usually do is, before I make such chagnes, I rename the old folder to a tempname and then create a new folder with the right name and then put the new stuff in there. So I thought I could just restore the original folders and then everything would be just fine... not, this just doesn't help at all.
I've been looking for hours now for solutoins to blank screens etc. but nothing seems to get me in the right direction. Can you or anyone give me a hint?

1. Download these zip files and unzipped them:
>>> "remote" (version 1.0.9) - http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gallery/g2-module-remote-1.0.9.zip
>>> "upload applet" (1.0.7) - http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gallery/g2-module-uploadapplet-1.0.7.zip
2. Open your FTP and go into your gallery folder.
3. Parent directory -> "Your gallery folder" -> modules -> scroll down and you'll see the "remote" and "uploadapplet" folders.
