After upgrading (from Gallery 2B3) to yesterdays snapshot (2005-07-20) I have lost the "Gallery block" from the main page.
If I click on one of the images that are displayed on the main page AND this image is contained in one of my albums THEN the "Gallery block" turns up in the left side (as expected) and I can choose between the listed albums.
It's a fairly un-tampered Gallery setup I have so I am pretty sure I have not caused the error my self - but time will tell.
Changing the "Album Select Settings" from "list" to "tree" does not seem to make any changes

checkout site admin -> themes -> matrix and click there on the blocks in the lists of blocks to see options.
if you need help, a link to your g2 would help showing what you mean.

The "Links to album/photo peers" IS listed in the admin interface (site admin -> themes -> matrix)
The site was not public available, but it is now:

PS.: The displayed images are for testing only - there will soon be more interesting images ;-)

I just updated my site to G2B4 and am still seeing this problem.
I can move the "Links to album/photo peers" up and down (compared to the "random image" block) and have those changes reflected on the website - but I am still not able to get the "Links to album/photo peers" block shown at the main page!
Could this be because I upgraded from the Holy Handgranade?
Am I the only one seing this problem?
Should I clean install a new "G2B4" and import my data (is that possible?) or is it interesting (for the G2 team) to figure out what caused this problem!
PS.: Choosing the "Links to album/photo peers" does NOT present any options - only all the other items in the same pop-up list results in the displaying of their options (I assume this is correct behavior, please verify)

yes, this block has no block options.
the Links to album/photo peers block indeed doesn't show up on the top album page.
that's because the top album has no peers. so it makes sense the way it is.

I Assume "peers" means pictures(?!?)
Yesterday I cleaned up the top album, before that there still was'nt any Gallery block.
Now I just moved a couple of images to the top album "Gallery" to make it not-empty and the block is still missing from the main page.
-----------
It sounds like there is something I am misunderstanding, so let me refrase my observation;
How can I show a list of the available albums in the menu block on the left?

no, peers doesn't mean picture.
see: http://dictionary.cambridge.org/ for peer -> equal.
Peers lists albums / items that are on the same hierarchical level.
the top album is as the name implies the single most highest album in the hierarchy, thus it has no peers.

to your question: we also offer the album select block, if that is what you want.
maybe you want to change your theme from matrix to classic, which has the G1 look and lists the subalbums on the top page.

BIIING - Now I understand how the theme, block, peer-methodology works!
Luckily the "Album quick links (DHTML)" / "Album quick links (dropdown)" is also available in the "Matrix" theme; So I can have my cake and eat it to - sorry about all the confusion from my side!
