Just a success story...

I Installed eaccelerator on my slackware 10.1 box,
compiled & configured it as mentioned in the README.

Not 1 installation glitch.

Stopped and restarted both mysql and apache deamons.

Pages are now loading at lighting speeds, I'm very impressed!

Cheers,
Marc

I can only second this. When I installed eAccelerator I clocked a 300% increase in speed.

One suggestion: You may want to tweak the cache size. In my opinion 64 megs (eAccelerator default) is to high for gallery. I reduced it to 32 and have yet to see it over 24 megz used...

I am glad to hear that. I did tried to use eaccelerator too, but with some trouble. What is the flags used for encoder? And did you ever see this error message?

Warning: requireonce(/www/htdocs/gallery2/modules/core/classes/../../..//www/htdocs/gallery2/modules/core/classes/GalleryCoreApi.class on line 0

Fatal error: requireonce(): Failed opening required '/www/htdocs/gallery2/modules/core/classes/../../../<?php if (!is_callable("eaccelerator_load") && !@dl((PHP_OS=="WINNT"' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php') in /www/htdocs/gallery2/modules/core/classes/GalleryCoreApi.class on line 0

<?php if (!is_callable("eaccelerator_load") && !@dl((PHP_OS=="WINNT"'

is that your code? that's certainly not g2 code.
or was it generated by eaccelerator?

maybe ask in the eaccelerator forums/mailinglists/...

eAccerlator -works- great for me!
My site was at the edge of overloading daily, server load easily go up to 10 to 20 easily with Gallery , but after applying eAccelerator 0.9.3. the server works like a charm, hardly ever reaching 5 with average going down to 1 to 2. Fastest page generation turn from 1.34 to 0.27. Over the 300% different it claimed.

If you have root access. You -must- give it a try. Even if you don't, try beg your Host to install it for you. the different is huge! It have been running for just a little over a day, I will report back if there are any problem, but so far there doesn't seem to be any memory leak, dugging doesn't show any error.

So far I have not seem a single glitch. My gallery is embedded in phpnuke 7.9, which is pretty picky all by itself. I thought I was asking for trouble to install something like this, but knowing I don't have much of a choice, I gave it a go.

This might sound like a commerical, but I'm simply amazed at the result.
