"Sort by taken date" not working for me

I've just uploaded a load of new photos to my gallery. They were taken using two different cameras, one of which uses filenames of format DSFC* and one that uses IMG_*

The cameras clocks were in sync, because I'd previously tried using EXIF picture taken dates for other stuff and had problems because they weren't in sync.

I used GalleryRemote to upload them all, and then tried using the "sort by picture taken date" within Gallery itself; but it doesn't do anything. The files are still left in the same filename order (all the DSCFs first, then all the IMG files)

The EXIF support appears to be working - if I look at the photo properties, photos from both cameras list the taken date correctly.

I *thought* I'd used this sort option before, but I could be wrong.

Any ideas would be appreciated because I'm quite stumped!

Odd - is capture date supposed to be the date the photos were taken then? Because it certainly isn't.

In the photo properties themselves, it's showing it correctly, though it doesn't list it as "capture date".

The capture date (as seen in that stats view, which I hadn't seen before) appears to be the date that Gallery Remote uploaded the files, not the date that the pictures were actually taken...
