Whenever I go to the edit album->general, or edit picture->general, the date always get reset to <some month> <some day> 1970 00 00 00.

Is that my install or is it a bug (it doesn't seem to be in the bug db)?

This G2 RC-1.

Could be a server issue too. Post a link to a phpinfo file as described here, http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:faq#What_information_is_required_when_I_ask_for_help_in_the_forums.3F

if either of you wants to PM me your G2 url, an admin login/pw and ssh/ftp access to your server I can try to debug where smarty's html_select_date function is going wrong..

Try updating to a current nightly snapshot.. we've upgraded smarty which may resolve this problem. (or wait for rc-2, early next week)
