I've always envisioned having the ability to select and choose photographs to print on pages, creating a photo album that was all digitally printed on reasonably good quality paper. These 'books' can be bound and set on coffee tables to resemble traditional photo albums.
My question is, has anyone tackled this, is it perhaps a feature I am missing in G2? If not, I'd like to tackle the project.
I envision using some cart system or selection of an entire album, then generating some sort of document that auto lays out the photos for 8.5" x 11" paper. Allowing you to choose landscape/portrait, print captions/titles, album details on separator pages, etc. Perhaps the front will have a 'highlighted photo' arrangement of some sort.
This may be quite an undertaking, or perhaps it could be as simple as creating the right skin and some printer-layout magic.
Whats the consensus.
And, for the record, i searched on printing and photo album and scanned the first couple hundred responses and didnt see any discussions like this.
Thanks for any insight, help, suggestions, words of encouragement or laughter ;)

Additionally, it might be interesting to use some open office scripting to generate word documents, or perhaps generate them automatically as a PDF document that is then printed.
Just thinking aloud.

sounds like a module for G2. G2 has a cart already but what gets done with the contence of the cart is up to you.
Good luck.
I will move this topic to G2 if you wish.

Actually, I have thought a great deal about this ability, yes. Not sure that does anything to think about it... but this would be a terrific ability. Already the checkout modules by Turnbulm are quite excellent and have these elements built inside them.

In half a heartbeat!! Yessir. I have a server and bandwidth that where testing could be done as well. Just tell me what to do and I will do it. This application would be a very smart thing.
I believe you can email me from my profile. I stand ready...

First step for me is to get G2 installed and working. Once that's done, I have to explore the G2 code structure. Lets work on a features list.

You got it. Let's exchange email addrs too. I've been itching to hook up with someone who wants to dig into G2 as I have some tremendous projects I am designing for and, well... it is worth hooking up...
