Hello to all,

I run a non-profit webiste for chronically ill children from home. It's not a big Organization, but it has been around for a little over 7 years.

I would like to make Albums for the families of the children that I feature on the site BUT give them LIMITED access to what they can do with their albums and photos.

I have fiddled around with 1.5 and found that setting permissions doesn't work for me as the parents will still have access to things I don't want them to do. Therefore I need help from someone who knows how to hack some codes within the files.

Right now, I have 1.5 on the site with some test Albums.
I already downloaded G2-RC2-Full but I'm not sure how to UPGRADE on top of 1.5, so I need help with that too.

Please let me know if you can help and what your price is.

Thank you!!

Alexandra

install g2,
go to site admin -> modules: activate the import from g1 module (aka migrate module),
go to site admin -> import from gallery 1, finish the process.
it's not more than a few clicks.

Hello Valiant,

Thanks for responding.

But... you mean install G2 on top of the 1.5 files??
I use FTP... and FTP will bring over G2 files but leave any 1.5 there if the files aren't the same.

Should I delete all files and folders on the server and only leave the Albums folder untouched?

Thanks
Alex

The module I just create and posted about ('Simple') seems like it might do exactly what you want. Basically, my goal is to create a simple interface to a subset of Gallery's features: upload, rotate, edit description and title, and very little else. And instead of using blanket permissions, I'm generally allowing people to edit only the items that they own. You might try it out: http://test.notate.net/gallery

I't very alpha (aka buggy) at this point, but should basically work. I'm adding a few other features (ability to create one level of subalbums, for example, but without exposing all the album permissions and the like). If there are other features you would need, contact me and if they are easy I'll try to add them.
