Mirroring is a very usefull feature! However, I whould like to store _all_ my images on a separate host. Is it possible to do that?

This is something I'm interested in also. I have a fast, cheap storage location but can't run Gallery or php there. I would like to use this location as a seperate storage host but mirroring won't work because all the files would have to be on BOTH hosts.
How does Gallery decide which host to use in a mirrored setup?

This is not *really* possible... because Gallery needs to be able to have local write access when you add new images or someone adds new comments etc.

If you do it *very carefully*, you can theoretically save all the photos on another server, and have the .dat files saved locally. However, you'll have trouble when it comes time to move photos, add photos, sort photos, or delete photos, and creating new albums. Provided you're willing to make sure to move files over to the other server to sync properly (this seems like a ton of hassle), then you can probably get it to work.

If you have the option to remotely mount the other server, then that's an option. Again, not recommended for difficulty's sake.

the quoted info above is from a reply you made long ago in regards to hosting photos on another site (or ftp location). Has anything changed since then? I need to have my photos located on my ftp site, (since my hosting service does not supply enough space). any chance on making this happen? (I also posted this question on the forum).
Thanks
